Dinosaur 13 Guided Reflection
Alex Dvorak
- There is a scene where the fossil of Sue is a taken by the FBI, and seeing the emotion of the fossil hunters as there entire life is taken away from them, while at the same time the their town tries to protest the seizure. It was a turning point in the documentary where it went from an interesting story about fossil hunters to a drama-filled legal battle. It was a very anger-inducing scene that really made you feel powerless
- The quick turn of events described in the first item really caught me off guard. I was already familiar with Sue, but I did not know she was seized by the FBI before being sold to the Field Museum. I had assumed the legal troubles were with the landlord and not the government.
- I think the documentary should've gone into more about Sue at the museum, and the opinions of the fossil hunters on the dinosaur being there. The whole idea of something important to you being taken away and you being powerless to stop it really stuck with me, as something like that happening to me would be my worst nightmare
- We should avoid research in the summary because this project is about our own experience in analyzing the documentary. Outside opinions or facts not included in the documentary my affect the outcome.
